The Walnut Tree
is on the road to Poulata, a left turn off the Sami to Aghia Efimia
road. Having left Sami after about two kilometres there is a big
right hand bend with a left turn signed Poulata at it. Take this
left turn and after about one and a half kilometres, the villa can
be found in the hamlet of Diministres on the left just after the big
bend.
Directions from the airport will be sent to tenants on receipt of
rental balance eight weeks before arrival.
Car Hire
Nikos , Katerina and Vicki Koutsogiorgos (email
starvillas@starvillas.gr)
provide an excellent car hire service. Nikos will meet incoming
flights or deliver direct to the house.
Argostoli (and the Airport)
The capital of Kephalonia, Argostoli (not far from the island’s
airport) is twenty four kilometres away – a drive of about thirty
minutes.
Sami
The second port of Kefalonia, Sami has ATM machines, post office,
several supermarkets amd a variety of shops serving both the needs
of the community and tourists. The ferries from the mainland arrive
here (from Patras) twice a day and there is a daily service to Italy.
There is a bus to Argostoli twice a day (connecting with the ferry).
There is a wide
selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. During the summer months
the waterfront road is closed to traffic from early evening. As
darkness descends and the air becomes cooler, Sami comes alive. With
all the shops, bars and tavernas staying open until ten or much
later, this is definitely a place to be. The lights along the
waterfront from the tavernas and the tempting aromas of Greek
cuisine ensure that visitors return again and again.
Poulata
We highly recommend Robilis Taverna at Poulata. They serve simple
Greek food: grilled or roasted meat, potatoes, bread, salads and
wine.
Karavomilos
Karavomilos has a small supermarket, several restaurants including
the highly recommended fish restaurant (described in house
instructions) and a good bakery.
Tennis Courts
There are public tennis courts in Karavomilos village.
